Waste is at the heart of the fashion industry. There’s no getting away from it. Around 35% of materials in the supply chain end up as waste; that’s before the garments are even available to buy. Additionally, more garments are being bought and discarded than ever. 57% of clothes purchased went to landfill in 2018. That’s why we not only aim to make garments which will stand the test of time, but why we’re now aiming to reduce that 35% to less than 1%. Altered Futures is the vehicle for that.
Using garment offcuts and fabric remnants which would normally go straight to landfill, we’ve created an entire collection which almost completely eliminates waste from our production process. Garments will be produced purely on the basis of necessity and will be complete one of ones.
